Wapiti (or elk) are huge – second only to moose in size. Most of the original herd released in New Zealand in 1905 were a gift from American President Theodore Roosevelt. They’ve thrived in the forests of Fiordland ever since and if you want to see or hunt them, you’d better dress for the brutally rugged, rain-soaked conditions they love.
Enter the Wapiti XP. High-performance rain gear taken to the next level. If you get wet in a Wapiti XP, you were probably already swimming. Built from our new Gen III 3-layer AEGIS® Whisper fabric, the Wapiti hunting jacket is highly breathable and extremely waterproof. It’s also quiet, which is essential when stalking the beast it’s named after.
Along with its classic looks, the Wapiti XP performs impeccably well in bad weather across the outdoor spectrum – from hardcore hunting to Saturday kids’ sports supervision.
Give yourself the means to stay out when Mother Nature says “go home”.
If you're ordering from outside New Zealand, your country might add its own duties or customs fees when your Swazi gear arrives - These charges are out of our hands, so just be aware that you might need to pay them to collect your parcel. If you’re unsure, it’s worth checking with your local customs office first.
📬 Order Confirmations & Updates
We keep you in the loop - You’ll get a confirmation email once your order’s placed, and another with tracking info the moment it ships.

Hunting Jacket
Can not afford to pay duty. Will not be buying more until duty is reduced. Was not informed on duty at purchase. Probably would not have bought if I would have known about the high duty.

Wapiti jacket
Can't say too much yet as I have only had to wear it once. Looking forward to getting a lot of use out of it during the fall, winter, and spring months. I must have spent a year researching different rain jackets before finally settling on the Swazi jacket. Also, a friend has one and he highly recommended it.

Wapiti hunting jacket
This is my second wapiti jacket, the first having done 10 years hard work was stolen. I have a tahr coat as well, but really like the extra pockets and full length zip on the wapiti jacket, so I purchased a replacement.
Having used one for years, and being impressed with its wind proofing, water proofing and ability to handle serious work for years, I purchased another for my son in law who is just getting into NZ hunting and he (ex the UK) is over the moon on just how well it works in all situations….deer in the Kaimanawas or tahr in the Mt Cook region. The Swazi gear is just so hard to beat…my other hunting son in law found that out to his cost! He now wears Swazi….

5 Stars
Fantastic product that would recommend to anyone who needs a serious wet weather garment.
We do have a Swazi shop right next door to Swazi HQ here in Levin, New Zealand.
We only sell our products through the very best retailers - we're very selective about who we have representing our gear! Find out where your nearest store is by clicking on the Swazi Stockists section or click here for the quick link.
What is the Swazi Warranty?
All Swazi garments are unconditionally warranted against faulty fabric and workmanship. We reserve the right to repair or replace at our discretion. We have a specific page for more details on our warranty and repairs and returns policies here.
Will I have to pay customs on an international order?
International customers are solely responsible for payment of all duties, import taxes and customs fees.
These fees are not included in the cost of shipping and we are unable to provide estimates of what this will cost as it will depend entirely on the garment and what charges your own government imposes.
Please check with your local customs agent for more details.
Can I change or cancel my order?
We process orders very quickly, which means in most cases, we can't make changes after an order has been placed. We definitely cannot make changes after we have sent a shipping confirmation email with a tracking link.
In saying that, if you have already placed an order and would like to cancel or change it, please email us service@swazi.co.nz or call 64 6 368 4822 within 2 hours of placing your order. We will do the best we can.
How do I know what size I need?
Every individual product page has a link to our size chart.
