Cover yer ass
In the States we don't see practicality as trendy or stylish, shame because the tahr covers all three points. It is a great hunting jacket and also offers a lot of rain protection. The long hem makes it ideal for wet weather because it covers your butt and also your pockets so things don't get wet. I got an XL and usually wear a L so I can layer underneath and was pretty happy with that decision. I have to also mention that the fabric is quiet, a rarity among good rain gear.

Overall, I'm happy with this purchase
Well thought out and executed jacket. Proper geometry and features for maximum weather protection. Arms and torso hem run long. Features are simple but effective. Brushed outer material is definitely quiet. If you can only take ONE jacket with you then this would likely be it
However, it will never be anything other than a rain jacket to me since I wear natural materials (or polycotton blends) in most situations. Why? Natural materials undeniably breathe better, are more durable, can be more easily repaired, offer better resistance to flames, and depending on who's manufacturing them - better for the environment. All while offering superb weather protection, complete windproofing in some cases (check out Ventile), and impressive shower resistance. And WAY cheaper! Now a word on membranes...
Swazi's AEGIS, like all other plastic membranes, is marketed as 'Waterproof and Breathable'. The more honest saying would be 'Waterproof OR Breathable'. Air cannot simply just pass through a border. It requires a difference in pressure or humidity to push air through. Without a pressure differential, there is no breathing. So when it rains, the atmosphere is humid, and during dynamic activity, your body is also 'humid' because it is sweating. Under these circumstances, the membrane's ability to breathe is highly limited
To sum it up: It will breathe well when it's dry, waterproof when it's wet, but not both at the same time
This is an excellent jacket but it's important that you…
