NAHANNI SHIRT

I can hands down say that working with Swazi to get a Nahanni, Tahr Ultralite into the USA was a masterclass in customer service and support. I originally ordered the wrong size and decided to exchange the gear (which required shipping it back to NZ, but I figured that such nice and amazing gear is worth spending the extra effort to get with the perfect fit -- my fault for not checking the sizing guidelines closely enough). When the exchanged goods made it back into the US and inevitably the rigamarole of customs began, Swazi had the most excellent customer service imaginable. I looked forward to the opportunity to use my international phone minutes to talk to Ashleigh, whose service and professionalism was subliminal. At some point, with my beautiful jackets floundering in the sea of customs (I imagine it to be something like the Indiana Jones warehouse at the end of the Lost Ark), Swazi so kindly paid the (incorrectly applied and horrendously expensive) customs out of their own pocket. Whenever I wear these garments, and they truly work perfectly in settings from walking to the library for studying or mountaineering in Icefields in Patagonia, I rant and rave (wax and wane) to everyone about how epic they are, and more so how epic the people are who have designed, made, sold, and helped ship them. 11/10 all around.

Basically i want a warm and windproof fleece i can wear walking my Labrador in any weather here in NZ. I have waterproof Barbours (great) but as they are oily i dont wear them in the car. So the Swazi is great on a cold day on trips as well camping. The only thing i would change is the sleeve buttons. They work great but hang free when not snapped - why not have a close snap to get them out the way. Also i would carry the webbing all the way around the sleeve. Small issues, the jersey is nice and windproof in the chest section and has good hand warming area. No formal ‘pockets’ but i dont mind about that because it keeps it simple. Nice kit for me.

This thing is bloody epic! Super toasty, but doesn’t over do it.

Comfy and easy to move around in, like all Swazi gear.

We use these shirts for our builders who wear them basically every day during the colder months and brisk mornings. Lasted the first season very well - one small burn mark on one shirt which is getting repaired by Swazi currently.

Sets , 4 layers with the wind/water proof coat and pants. My husband used his in Russia a few years ago after purchasing them at DSC. Made him a firm believer and advertiser for y’all! Some of us tend to gain a little weight as we age, and that combined with some claustrophobia prevented me from being able to wear the Nahanni, thus the recent purchase! Those extra fat layers did help keep me warm on our Muskox hunt in the Artic Circle last week! We bundled up ( I felt like the kid on Christmas Story) and jumped on the skidoos and off we went! We were successful but did spend a lot of time zipping across the frozen tundra in extreme cold temps! Neither of us ever felt any cold and so therefore enjoyed the hunt even more! Can’t wait for our next adventure! In the meantime I’ll just continue to wear parts of mine while pursuing whitetail deer here in Texas! Can’t thank y'all enough!
